About The Role

Purpose of the role

To build and maintain the systems that collect, store, process, and analyse data, such as data pipelines, data warehouses and data lakes to ensure that all data is accurate, accessible, and secure.

Accountabilities

  • Build and maintenance of data architectures pipelines that enable the transfer and processing of durable, complete and consistent data.
  • Design and implementation of data warehoused and data lakes that manage the appropriate data volumes and velocity and adhere to the required security measures.
  • Development of processing and analysis algorithms fit for the intended data complexity and volumes.
  • Collaboration with data scientist to build and deploy machine learning models.

To be successful as a Platform/Data Principal Engineer , you should have experience with

  • Deep software engineering expertise, with proven experience designing and building complex distributed systems, engineering platforms, or large-scale backend services – delivering robust, high-performing solutions at scale
  • Strong platform engineering and architecture experience, including cloud-native design, infrastructure as code, automation, CI/CD, secure-by-design patterns, scalability, and production-grade engineering practices – building secure, scalable, and efficient platforms that accelerate delivery
  • Principal-level technical leadership and stakeholder influence, with the ability to set technical direction, define standards and patterns, solve complex cross-platform challenges, communicate clearly with senior technical and non-technical stakeholders, and influence outcomes across teams without relying on formal authority – driving alignment and technical excellence across the organisation

Some other highly valued skills may include

  • Experience operating distributed platforms in production, with strong focus on reliability, resilience, observability, incident prevention, recovery, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience building self-healing and self-service platform capabilities that enable engineering teams to onboard, deploy, monitor, troubleshoot and operate with minimal manual intervention.
  • Exposure to data streaming, data platform, or event-driven technologies such as Kafka, Flink, schema registry, connectors, or large-scale data movement platforms.
