JOB SUMMARY
The Data Conversion Programmer will work closely with Project Managers, Implementation Specialists, and clients to ensure the effective extraction, transformation, and loading of complex data sets from legacy systems into Milsoft software solutions, ensuring data integrity and seamless migrations with minimal downtime.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Designs, develops, tests, and executes scripts to extract data from various source systems, transform it according to business logic, and load it into target databases.
- Analyzes source data structures, field mappings, and legacy databases to identify data quality issues, missing fields, or potential conversion bottlenecks.
- Collaborates with business analysts and clients to define data mapping rules and runs validation scripts to verify completeness and accuracy pre- and post-migration.
- Writes scalable scripts and automated tools to streamline repeatable migration processes and reduce manual intervention.
- Maintains detailed documentation of data conversion routines, mapping logic, and exception-handling procedures, and produces post-conversion reconciliation reports.
- Diagnoses and resolves complex data discrepancies, transformation errors, and performance issues during testing and production cutovers.
- Upholds, safeguards, and promotes Milsoft’s values and philosophy regarding ethics, integrity, and corporate responsibility.
- Maintains regular, consistent, and professional attendance, punctuality, personal appearance, and adherence to relevant health and safety procedures.
- Any other duties that may be necessary or assigned occasionally.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Strong proficiency in writing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, joins, and indexing (e.g., PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, or MySQL).
- Advanced scripting abilities in languages such as Python, Perl, PowerShell, or Bash for data parsing and file manipulation.
- Experience working with diverse file formats, including JSON, XML, CSV, fixed-width files, and relational database dumps.
- Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills to translate complex data mapping challenges into simple terms for non-technical stakeholders.
