About The Role

  • Join Fargo Glass & Paint as an Estimator & become an Employee Owner!
  • Summary: Review architectural drawings and specifications to create complete estimates for materials and labor to complete commercial glazing projects.
  • Role and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.
  • 90% Estimator
  • 10% Preliminary work with architects, engineers, general contractors, and owners
  • Reviews and evaluates Requests for Estimates
  • Prepares weekly bid calendar and ensures timely completion of estimates
  • Continues to follow-up on estimates and track progress of bids
  • Where predetermined standard(s) are not available, makes an estimate
  • Schedules meetings with Architects and Contractors to continue to generate leads
  • Attends departmental meetings as required.
  • Acts as Project Manager when necessary
  • Copies project drawings and specification documents
  • Will greet customers and the public in person and on the telephone, answers questions and directs to appropriate individual when necessary.
  • May assist in product layout and applications
  • Executes take-off of construction documents
  • Inputs take-offs into computer spreadsheet
  • Prepares cost analysis
  • Assists in product submittals
  • Partners with our Safety Department and Operations Leadership to promote and ensure a safe work environment and ensure all safety precautions are met.
  • Prompt and reliable attendance.
  • Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs

Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm

Qualifications

Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable under Company’s insurance. Working experience of computers and experience with MS Office 365 (Word & Excel). AutoCAD experience is a bonus. This individual must be a strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills, strong written and oral communication skills as well as proven customer service. Must be detail oriented with strong organizational, negotiating, and problem-solving skills. Must be able to work under minimal supervision, manage multiple tasks and interact with others in a professional manner.

Education Requirements

Associate’s Degree in estimating, drafting, engineering, or related field, one or more years of experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Working knowledge of MS Office 365 (Word & Excel)
  • Experience reading blueprints and specifications
  • AutoCAD experience preferred
  • Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints
  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly
  • Ability to organize and direct oneself
