Care Professional
HomaCare · Harden, United Kingdom
About The Role
You're naturally caring. Make their day. Part-time roles designed to brighten their everyday and work around your life.
About HomaCare At HomaCare, we deliver exceptional, prevention-focused care that helps support our community and the fight against dementia. Our expert care is designed to enrich the everyday and catch the little things before they become big things, securing a life at home in older age.
We believe the best care is built on genuine human connection. That is why we refuse to do rushed 15-minute "pop-ins." All of our visits are at least 1 hour, giving you the time to actually sit down, have a conversation, and make someone smile over a cup of tea.
The Role We are looking for warm, naturally empathetic people across Bingley, Shipley, and surrounding areas to join our team on a part-time basis. You will be visiting older adults in their own homes, assisting with daily routines (including personal care such as support dressing, washing, nutrition and hydration, and medication administration), providing companionship, and helping them live fulfilling, independent lives.
This is a part-time role that offers exceptional flexibility. We offer a range of guaranteed hours per week, ranging from 6 to 14, to give you a stable baseline that suits your life, whilst offering the opportunity for extra hours as desired.
Requirements
We care far more about your natural empathy, reliability, and personal approach than ticking boxes, but there are a few practical essentials for the role:
- Empathy & Motivation: Highly motivated to provide outstanding quality care tailored to each individual's needs, with a warm and patient approach.
- Core Responsibilities: Comfortable and able to respectfully assist with personal care tasks (including personal hygiene and dressing) as well as domestic tasks (including preparing meals, cleaning, and shopping) as required.
- Tech-Savvy: Smartphone and computer-literate (this is essential for viewing your flexible rotas and submitting daily care notes).
- Reliability: Punctual and highly dependable.
- Travel: Able to travel reliably between appointments via your own vehicle or public transport to attend visits in and around Bingley, Shipley, and surrounding areas.
- Communication: Clear written and spoken English to build genuine relationships over a cup of tea and accurately log care.
- Safeguarding & Legal: Willing to undergo an Enhanced DBS check, provide reliable references, and show proof of your right to work in the UK.
Benefits
Standard care agencies promise the world but often leave carers burnt out. We do things differently. Here is what we guarantee:
- Market-Leading Pay: £15.50 per hour for ALL hours spent working or completing training.
- Minimum 1-Hour Visits: No "flying visits" or impossible schedules. You will always have a minimum of one hour with every person you care for.
- True Flexibility: We know that you have a life outside of work, and that this is what makes you who you are. That is why we build your guaranteed 6 to 14 hours per week around your actual life (school runs, university lectures, or semi-retirement). There is always the option for more hours if you want them.
- Comprehensive Paid Onboarding: We don't drop you straight into visits. After joining HomaCare you will complete our fully-paid onboarding, completing modules on dementia, infection risks and management, nutrition in the elderly, and safeguarding. You'll then complete at least 3 accompanied visits to ease you into the role. As soon as possible into the role you will also complete an emergency first-aid at work course.
- Paid Enhanced DBS Check: We fully cover the cost of your Enhanced DBS check.
- Casual Dress Policy: We don't believe in creating barriers with those we care for by wearing clinical tunics. At HomaCare, our dressing policy allows you to express yourself in your own style. Your HomaCare lanyard and employee badge are the only uniform requirements.
- Travel Covered: Paid mileage or public transport reimbursement between visits.
- Wellbeing Fund: Based on your average weekly hours, you have access to up to £200 per year from our Wellbeing Fund. This funding can be used for anything that you believe will support you in delivering exceptional care, such as (but not limited to) a massage, spa treatment, or counselling.
- Blue Light Card: We reimburse the cost of your Blue Light membership, allowing you to access a wide range of discounts and offers.
- Funded Care Training Opportunities: We are passionate about supporting your training and advancement in care. We can fund relevant courses such as Level 3 or Level 5 care qualifications, or similar.
- Career and Educational Support: For long-term aspirations outside of care, we offer 1:1 support from our Research & Development Lead who holds a PhD. This support is tailored to you, and can be used to identify and work towards training pathways, funding, qualifications, or experience. Example uses of this support include: completing qualifications as a mature student, accessing university, or engaging in research.
- Training Opportunities in Analytics and Research: If you are interested in how we use data to enhance our care, or how we conduct research in care, we offer 1:1 training to allow you to build your skills and engage in research and development.
