About The Role

About Bamboo

Bamboo builds the products and infrastructure that let more people and institutions across Africa participate in global capital markets. Since launch we've grown to serve hundreds of thousands of retail investors trading local and international securities, and we're now extending that reach into institutional and embedded investing, giving banks, fintechs and wealth managers the rails to offer investing to their own customers. Underpinning all of it is a shared investment platform that powers every Bamboo investment experience, across products, markets and customer segments. This role owns that platform.

Job Scope

You'll own Bamboo's shared Investment Platform — the reusable capabilities that let Retail, Institutional and Embedded products offer and operate investment products without rebuilding core infrastructure. Your remit spans the full investment lifecycle: brokerage account creation, product configuration, order management and execution, positions, settlement, custody, transfers and asset servicing, plus the APIs, services and operational tooling that expose these across markets and asset classes.

In the near term, your defining mandate is consolidation: bringing Bamboo's brokerage capabilities onto a single, owned platform and migrating existing products off fragmented external rails onto it. This is the foundation that lets every customer-facing team launch faster on shared infrastructure rather than bespoke builds. You own reusable platform capabilities rather than a single customer proposition.

What you will be doing

  • Set the strategy, roadmap and priorities for the Investment Platform, sequencing investment against customer, operational, commercial and regulatory need.
  • Lead the consolidation of Bamboo's brokerage capabilities onto owned platform infrastructure, and the migration of existing products off external rails with continuity of service.
  • Build reusable capabilities that let Retail, Institutional and Embedded teams launch new products, asset classes and markets without rebuilding core services.
  • Partner with Engineering to define scalable platform services, APIs and system boundaries that customer-facing teams can build on.
  • Work with Operations, Settlements and Compliance to improve the reliability, efficiency and operability of the investment lifecycle end to end.
  • Reduce operational complexity and manual intervention through automation, platform consolidation and reusable tooling.
  • Establish the standards, documentation and support model that let internal teams self-serve against platform capabilities.
  • Use customer, operational and commercial data to continuously raise platform performance and reliability.

What success looks like

  • Brokerage capabilities consolidated onto owned infrastructure, with existing products migrated off external rails without disruption.
  • New propositions, markets and asset classes launch on existing platform capabilities, with minimal net-new core build.
  • Time-to-launch for customer-facing teams onboarding to the platform.
  • Platform service reliability and uptime across the investment lifecycle.
  • Reduction in manual operational interventions across order, settlement and custody flows, with clean reconciliation to settlement, custody and finance records.

Who you are

  • You have 5–8 years of product management experience, with significant time on technical, API-first or platform products.
  • You have domain grounding in brokerage, wealth management, investing or capital markets.
  • You are familiar with the post-trade lifecycle: order management, execution, settlement, custody and asset servicing.
  • You have experience delivering products within regulated financial services.
  • You have demonstrated ownership of complex, cross-functional systems with many stakeholders and dependencies, from discovery through delivery.
  • You can work deeply with engineering on highly technical products, and define services, APIs and system boundaries.
  • You have strong analytical thinking, structured problem-solving, and the judgement to balance commercial, operational and regulatory trade-offs.
  • You have excellent stakeholder management and cross-functional influence; you can set direction for a broader area and raise the quality bar through thought leadership and mentoring.

Nice to Haves

  • Experience leading a platform migration or consolidation of core financial infrastructure.
  • Experience supporting products across multiple countries or markets.
  • Exposure to embedded or partner-facing (BaaS-style) API-productised offerings.
  • Familiarity with African market infrastructure (e.g. NGX, CSCS) and/or international brokerage rails.
