About The Role
The New Terminal One at John F. Kennedy International Airport is a bold and exciting project to develop a best-in-class international terminal that will serve as an anchor terminal in the Port Authority's $19 billion transformation of JFK into a global gateway to the New York metropolitan area and the United States. The New Terminal One will set a new standard for design and service, aspiring to obtain a top 5-star Skytrax rating.
Who we are looking for
We are seeking an individual with a strong interest in aviation, airport management, project management, and business operations. This individual will play a key role in supporting the Airline Engagement Team during NTO's ORAT (Operations Readiness and Airport Transfer) period leading up to the terminal opening.
They will assist with airline onboarding activities, stakeholder communications, project milestone tracking, and coordination efforts with airline partners and internal teams. The Intern will help foster productive relationships with airlines, airport stakeholders, consultants, and terminal operators while supporting operational planning and terminal activation initiatives. This role provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience on one of North America's most significant airport development projects and contribute to the successful transition and opening of NTO. The ideal candidate is proactive, highly organized, detail-oriented, eager to learn, and motivated to build a career in the aviation industry.
What you’ll be doing
Airline Onboarding and Onsite Support
- Assist in coordinating onboarding activities for airline partners transitioning to The New Terminal One
- Track airline onboarding milestones, action items, and deliverables
- Support with coordination of airline site visits, terminal tours, workshops, and airline planning sessions
- Help gather, organize, and distribute airline information to support onsite access
- Support follow-up activities with airline representatives and internal stakeholders
Administrative & Project Support
- Maintain electronic files, databases, trackers, and stakeholder contact lists
- Update project trackers and status of action items
- Support preparation of meeting agendas, meeting minutes, and action item trackers
- Perform other administrative and project coordination duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Interest and/or knowledge in aviation, airports, airlines, transportation, or infrastructure projects
- Experience using Excel for data tracking and reporting.
- Familiarity with project management tools (Smartsheet, Monday.com, etc.)
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- Detail-oriented with strong follow-through
- Exposure to Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
- Comfortable working in a professional business environment
Education
- Recent college graduate majoring in but not limited to: Aviation Management, Business Administration and/or Economics, Airport Management, Hospitality Management, Project Management Related field
Where will you work
This role will be onsite and is currently located in Building 111 at JFK Airport. Certain duties will require you to access our construction site, and you will be required to strictly adhere to all company and site-specific safety guidelines.
This is a local hire position. The company does not offer relocation packages or reimbursement for moving expenses.
As NTO progresses towards its operational phase, your role may transition to the terminal, where you will be directly involved in the day-to-day activities of this state-of-the-art international terminal.
This role requires a valid Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge, and CBP (U.S. Customs and Border Protection) seal, which will be obtained and maintained throughout employment. Successful candidates will be subject to a background check and other security clearance procedures mandated by the TSA (Transportation Security Administration, CBP and PANYNJ (Port Authority of New York and New Jersey). Candidates who cannot obtain and maintain this credential will not be considered for employment.
