As a Principal Vehicle Technical Artist, you will play a leading role in defining the technical vision, systems and workflows that support the creation of our in-game vehicles. Acting as a key bridge between art and engineering, you will identify complex challenges, establish scalable solutions and ensure our Vehicle Art team can deliver industry-leading quality efficiently and consistently.

You will take ownership of the most significant technical challenges across the vehicle pipeline, moving the team away from manual, asset-by-asset fixes towards robust, system-driven solutions. Through technical leadership, collaboration and mentorship, you will raise the capability of the wider team and help establish a vehicle production pipeline that sets a new benchmark for the industry.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience as a Technical Artist within game development, including experience operating at a Principal, Lead or equivalent level.
  • Deep understanding of vehicle content, production pipelines and the technical challenges involved in creating high-quality real-time vehicles.
  • Proven ability to design and implement scalable tools, systems and workflows that deliver measurable improvements across an entire production team.
  • Expert knowledge of real-time engines, ideally Unreal Engine, alongside a strong understanding of content creation, integration, optimisation and rendering pipelines.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to define technical strategy and influence artists, engineers and project leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the technical strategy for vehicle content, pipelines and workflows in partnership with Vehicle Art, Technical Art and Engineering leadership.
  • Identify and solve complex technical challenges affecting vehicle quality, performance and production efficiency.
  • Architect and implement scalable systems that resolve issues across multiple vehicles and support the long-term needs of the project.
  • Lead the development of tools and workflows that enable artists to create, iterate and integrate vehicle content more efficiently.
  • Establish best practices for vehicle creation, validation, optimisation and integration, reducing reliance on manual fixes.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship across the Vehicle Art team, raising quality, consistency and technical capability.

Desirable

  • Experience working on vehicle-focused, automotive or racing titles.
  • Advanced scripting or programming experience using Python, Blueprints, C++ or similar technologies.
  • Experience architecting and optimising large-scale content pipelines for AAA production.
